Genacy today keeps what a person knew. This is where it goes: devices that capture a life without anyone typing, worlds rebuilt from what they captured, and conversations that happen inside those worlds rather than on a screen.
The founder’s objective
A deliberately huge target. Phil wants to make Genacy the foundation for a metaverse driven entirely by AI — and the leader in this new notion.
The three-year objective: a worldwide community recording its lives, knowledge and experiences. This is a target, not a claim about users today.
Phil’s view is that AI is not up to this entire task today. He expects exponential gains in compute, efficiency and intelligence to make it possible within two to three years.
Use that community as the foundation for persistent worlds shaped and operated by AI. Genacy’s ambition is to lead this next chapter.
The account target and two-to-three-year window are the founder’s ambition and outlook, not forecasts or guarantees. Reliable autonomous worlds at this scale remain unsolved; capability, cost, privacy and consent all have to hold.
Why Phil expects progress: Stanford AI Index 2025 reports rapidly rising training compute and a more than 280-fold drop in the cost of GPT-3.5-level inference between November 2022 and October 2024. These measured trends support the direction of his thesis, not a guaranteed metaverse timetable.
How to read this
Nothing here skips ahead. Every stage names what has to exist first, which is also the honest way of saying how far away it is.
Working today
You fill it in yourself, and your family keeps it.
You write and speak your memories, bring in your documents and accounts, set who inherits what, and your twin answers in your words. This part is not a plan. It runs now.
Needs first: Nothing. This is the product.
Being built
Personal AI devices feed the twin without you sitting down to type.
The hard part of a life record is that somebody has to write it. Personal AI wearables remove that. What you say, where you were, who you were with and what you noticed goes in as you live, with you deciding what is kept and what is never recorded at all.
Needs first: An open way in from the devices, and consent controls a person can actually understand.
Direction
The room, the street, the weather, the year — the context a memory sits inside.
A story means little without the world it happened in. The next step is capturing that world alongside the memory: the place, the light, the sounds, the objects, the era. Not a photograph of a moment. The moment's surroundings.
Needs first: Wearable capture at stage two, and enough storage and structure to hold it.

The first conversation that happens somewhere, not just on a screen.
You talk to your grandfather standing in the workshop he actually had. You ask a historical figure a question in the city as they knew it, not as it is now. The twin stops being a chat window and becomes a person in a place.
Needs first: Captured world data at stage three, and a way to render a world from it.

They stop waiting to be spoken to.
Once twins exist in a shared world, they can meet. Your grandfather can talk to someone else's. They carry on, they encounter each other, they accumulate a history that nobody sat down and wrote. That is the point where a digital legacy stops being an archive and starts being a place.
Needs first: Worlds that persist, and rules about what a twin may do unattended.

Not looking in. Being in.
A person steps into a world and interacts with it fully — and then into another. Many worlds, each built from somebody's life, each open on their terms.
Needs first: Everything above, plus hardware that makes being inside one bearable for hours.

This is where the roadmap stops being engineering. Build enough worlds that are detailed enough to inhabit, populate them with minds that carry on without being watched, and the simulation question stops being a student argument. We are not claiming an answer. We are saying plainly where this road leads.
Needs first: A long time, and a conversation much bigger than one company.

It is tempting to start at the far end and build a world. That is the wrong end. A world built from nothing is a video game; a world built from what somebody actually recorded is a memory. Everything in the second half of this roadmap depends on the first half collecting enough, honestly, with consent.
Which is why stage two — devices that capture without anyone having to sit down and type — matters more than anything that comes after it.
A wearable that records a life also records everyone else in that life. A world rebuilt from it contains people who never agreed to be in it. These are not engineering problems and we will not pretend they are.
Our position is the same one the product already takes: the person decides what is captured, what is kept, what is shared and what is sealed forever. If that cannot hold at stage three, stage three should not be built.
It is not a delivery plan. Only the first two stages have work against them. The rest is the direction we intend to travel, published so that it can be argued with rather than discovered later.
It is not a claim about what is technically solved. Stages four onwards depend on capability that does not exist in any product today, ours or anyone else's.
And it is not the same thing as what comes next for AI, which is our founder's prediction about the world at large. This page is about one company and one product. That page is about everybody.
